Tour Guide - Inspection Report Documents

Inspection Report Documents

The documents feature allows you to store an unlimited supply of documents to include in your home inspection reports, be they HTML files you drag off the internet, pictures you scan and save as image files, or documents you type in by hand. With built-in text editing, you have the ability to customise your documents to make them look just like you want them to.

At the time this user guide was written, InspectMaster v 1.0 contained a 'Report Pages' documents library containing 'Standard Pages' for inclusion in the inspection report. A second 'Industry Documents' library containing the Standards of Practice of most of the HI associations was also provided. These essential documents, or report pages, can be selected once a new report is opened, and then again when it is time to generate the inspection report.

Creating New Documents

When it comes to Document creation, you have multiple options. But first you must decide which Documents Library you would like to store the document in. Or if you would like to create a new Documents Library. Or whether the document will be used in this inspection only and doesn't need to be saved and stored anywhere.

Let's assume for now that you would like to create a new Document Library. We'll call the Library 'CPSC', and create a folder that we'll name 'Recalls'. Inside the folder we'll create two subfolders named "Furnaces' and 'Water Heaters'. Inside the 'Furnaces' folder we'll create a new document called 'Consolidated Furnaces'.

First, make sure you don't have an inspection open.

Go to the main menu bar and select 'Document Library'. A drop-down menu will appear. Select 'Blank' from the menu.

Without a firm grasp of computerese, not all documents are easy to create, especially those involving the use of macros and tables. For this reason we are always assembling and collecting Document libraries for InspectMaster users. Existing libraries can be found on our website at www.inspectmaster.com/library.php.

It is our hope that those InspectMaster users with computer and/or programming experience will experiment with document creation and share their documents with other InspectMaster users. We'll have to wait and see. We suggest that you make a habit of checking the library often to see what may be available.
